A tiki on my collar

Sorry I have been away for a while folks, it has been a very busy couple of weeks here at theNavyMuseum. The team were rushed off their feet with the busiest ever school holiday programme, Tiki Tag.

I’ll tell you, it brought back some memories…I remember when I was given a tiki by one of the crew onboard Hickleton.  I had never actually been toNew Zealandbefore as I was born in Malaya.  But the boys said that because I served on a Royal New Zealand Navy ship, I should look like a New Zealander, and gave me a tiki.  I was as proud as punch when I received it, I even wore it for my official portrait.

Me sitting for my offical portrait. You can see my tiki hanging from my collar. I had it polished for the occasion
